A Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

This past Saturday we ventured out to the local pumpkin patch.....but first took a few pictures at home! Lainey brought back a HUGE pumpkin from MO and it was the perfect prop. Boy, did I get some good ones! I have a NEW trick. I told Madden there was a firetruck in my camera lens and he needed to look right at it.....and it worked!

I just LOVE these, so get ready for picture overload!

See, he's looking for that firetruck.... :)

SO GROWN UP!

....and he tried to EAT the pumpkin....

....and throw the pumpkins.....oh, the joy of a BOY!

Catch me if you can....

After our little photo shoot, we headed to the local pumpkin farm. This was their first year - and while it wasn't anything spectacular, it was simple and perfect for us to spend a little time at....and close to home! They will have blueberries in the summer and we hope to go back!

...apparently, the lady taking the picture doesn't know my trick to get Madden to look at the camera!

Waiting for the train ride...

Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum! Marc was such a good sport to spend Saturday doing this while college football was on! He keeps asking me why we couldn't do this stuff in the Spring or Summer - why I decide to do 'family outings' in the Fall when football is on?! Um, well, there aren't pumpkins then and its too dang HOT in the summer to leave the house! So, c'mon!

Fun on the hayride!

Sweet hands....showcasing the spider ring he got from the doctor (we went to the doctor before the pumpkin patch to learn he had his first ear infection of the season!....oh, well, it was a good run...hadn't had one since May!)

Free hotdogs!

Peek a boo!

What a beautiful, fun, Fall day!

Carving Pumpkins

It's that time of year again.....time to carve pumpkins! Last year, Madden didn't like it at all. And, this year, he really could've cared less. When do children REALLY get into making fun memories?! :)

....and Madden got bored with the pumpkin carving (which only lasted about 15 minutes) and went to play with firetrucks!

Happy Halloween!

Trunk or Treat - BUST!

SOOOO.....I had high hopes of taking Madden to his first Trunk or Treat/Fall Carnival this year. It was at a local church and was to be loads of fun for him. In fact, he couldn't wait to go! He was dressed up in his fireman costume (minus the jacket because it was 90 degrees!) and had his candy bucket ready.

We arrived.

He was cautious upon entering (as usual to new places....he is SUCH his mama!)

This horse greeted us and he reluctantly approached it with our neighbors to pat its nose.

He was NOT having it.

Can't you just see the excitement on his face????????

.....and then the firetruck was spotted and that was "the end". You see, Madden LOVES firetrucks. LOVES THEM! We drive by the firestation about 4 times each day.....but he is TERRIFIED of firetrucks and firemen in person. So, when he saw the firetruck at the Trunk or Treat, he was DONE. Ready.To.Go.

So, we left. Mommy was frustrated. Madden was relieved. And Daddy was happy we only had to stay 15 minutes! Ha!

Maybe next year....

Our Trip To Sooner Country....

Our niece, Kendal (aka. KK) is a Junior at OU this year and is a cheerleader. She had begged and begged us to come watch her cheer, but it hadn't worked out until now.....

We loaded up the car early last Saturday and drove to Norman, OK. Texas Tech was playing OU that night, so we thought it would be a fun time to go! Turns out, it was a REALLY fun time to go!

Marc worked hard on Friday and smoked a few pork butts to take with us and I made pumpkin bars. We arrived at KK's house around lunchtime and fed about 30 people. It was a houseful and Madden loved all the attention he received!

Around 4pm, we headed to campus for the Homecoming Parade.

KK and Kiki running to see Madden...

Got a sucker...

After the parade, we went to watch the cheerleaders warm up before the game. Madden was exhausted at this point, but ran and ran.

Can you say EXHAUSTED?! :)

KK warming up...

My camera caught this mid stunt, so this is not good form, but it's still impressive!

We didn't go to the game because it was late and we were SURE Tech would be beat badly. We sat with our friends, Kathleen and Scott at their awesome tailgate for a while and then headed to their house.

We got to watch the game in the comfort of their AMAZING sports room at their house.....and what a game it was! Tech beat OU. Truly unbelievable.

We enjoyed playing with Kathleen's kiddos Sunday morning before meeting KK and family for breakfast. Then, we headed home.

A quick, exhausting, but FUN trip! We sure are proud of that KK!
