Spring Break - Part 2 - San Antonio

Marc was traveling for about 10 days and I knew I ought to either go somewhere with Madden or have someone visit. It just helps the time pass faster. So, we loaded up and headed to San Antonio to visit my family (Lainey & Pops and Caroline). We missed Ben....but sounds like he was having a good spring break at the beach!

I had not been down there to visit since June, so we were definitely due a trip! Other than the LONG, rainy trip down there.....the trip was great and Madden was a trooper! He slept SO well and enjoyed playing at the park, with the puppies and with new toys. He even said a few new words (oh no! and sky) - so cute!

We did a little shopping - visiting some of my favorite boutique stores and we headed to San Marcos to the outlets one evening. While there, we ate at Centerpoint Station (across from the outlets). Several people had told me how wonderful the food and shopping was, but I had never been. It turned out to be a really neat place....and I think the hamburger was good! Madden threw a big tantrum during dinner, so I was up and down the whole time until Pops finally took him outside for a bit. Speaking of tantrums - wow - we are in full swing! He's almost TWO!

We celebrated Caroline and Pops birthdays - and devoured a yummy chocolate cake!

Here are a few pictures from our trip!

Pictures after church! A Schwenker Family Tradition! Ha!

After this, started a little meltdown....but we managed to get a few good pictures.

Pops & Madden....

Playing at the park. There is a great park in their neighborhood and Madden enjoyed playing all over it.....as long as no other kids got in his space. He is really not into sharing too well these days and did not want other kids to play on HIS playground. Sigh.

I think we went to Sonic EVERYDAY! Madden knows what the Sonic sign looks like and anytime we pass one he freaks out because he wants to stop. Do you know how many Sonic's are on I-35 between Dallas and San Antonio?! A LOT! He loves Sonic slushes....and I don't blame him!

Daddy is now home and all is right in Madden's world now. He constantly asks for Daddy when he travels and he is always SO happy when both mommy and daddy are home! He sleeps better, goes to the sitter easier, eats better, etc. when Marc is home. Crazy how they just seem to get out of wack when something (or someone!) interupts their world! He is certainly CRAZY about his Daddy!

Thanks for taking care of us, family! We had a great visit!

Spring?

Well, yesterday was March 20 - the first day of Spring.....but when I got up this morning, this was what I saw outside!

Marc had a flight to Japan this morning, so we "skated" to DFW. No one was prepared for this weather, so the streets were in bad shape. It melted very fast, but it sure was pretty to see!

Spring Break!

A few weeks ago, my friend Jenny called me to see if I would be interested in taking a trip with her to Houston to visit our friend Stephanie. Both Jenny and Steph are teachers and Spring Break was coming up. I was hesitant to go since I would have to take the time off work (since I don't get a spring break!), but after some thought decided this would be a fun trip and a great chance to catch up with dear friends. Boy, am I glad I went! It was a lot of fun!

Jenny and I met on Sunday.....loaded up all our stuff in her car and headed out. I brought Madden and she brought her 2 boys, Colton and Caden. We stuffed our carseats in the backseat of her car, buckled up and headed to Houston with our 9 month old, 20 month old and 2 1/2 year. Whew! All 3 boys did pretty good. They slept, watched movies and ate A LOT of chocolate chips cookies! Hey - whatever it takes! :)

Caden was on the other side of Colton, but his carseat is turned backward, so it was hard to get a picture!

We got to Steph's house in time for a yummy dinner. Her son, Lincoln (almost 4) was so excited for his "spring break buddies" to arrive. Colton and Lincoln hit it off immediately. They played so well together. Madden did his own thing and Caden just watched all the action.
Monday, we went to a local Arboretum. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and a perfect place for the boys to run around. We packed a picnic lunch too! The day was going very well until Madden decided to throw a fit.....and this was the fit of all fits! I had never seen him act this way. He's getting closer and closer to TWO! I tried EVERYTHING to get him to stop, but he wouldn't and I ended up carrying a kicking a screaming child out of the park. Nice. By the time we got ready for our picnic, he had stopped and was very pleasant the rest of the time.

The beginning of the fit....

Monday night, Steph had up make our own pizzas on the grill and they were SO yummy! We let the kids play and enjoyed some girl time late that night!
On Tuesday, we headed home after lunch. It was a very quick trip, but SO worth it! The boys all had fun together and it was great to catch up with dear friends.
**I somehow managed to not take many pictures....hoping Jenny and Stephanie will share some and I can update to this post!
