We celebrated Mothers Day. I got some much needed perfume (Romance) and a card from Madden. We went to church and had a lazy afternoon.
My brother, Ben moved in with us in late May. He is doing an internship with a company here for the summer. I think he is learning a lot - from his internship, but also about married life with a almost 3 year old! The first Friday night he was at our house, he looked at us around 9:00pm and asked if we were staying in for the night....uh, yes....it's nearly bedtime Ben! I think he's been a little bored sometimes, but overall, he has been a trooper and we are enjoying getting to know him better. Sad to say that we don't know each other well....but I went to college when he went to Kindergarten, so I wasn't around much for his growing up years!
It is already VERY HOT here - 100 degree temps - so we have spent a lot of time at the splash pad or in the pool!

Madden started swim lessons at school in April. He LOVES it and is doing quite well. He knows to flip on his back if he can't touch and is able to keep his head above water and "tread". He doesn't like for me to hold onto him, but if I let go, then he looks like he is drowning. Hard for a mama to watch, but he is learning!
I have the house decorated for summer! I love the changing of the seasons (at least the seasons IN my house) - I'm not sure we have 'real' seasons here in Texas!
I got this mirror for my mantel at our church garage sale for $10. I love it. It has a solid wood frame and fits well over the fireplace (still looking for a way to get rid of that brass gold screen!)
Anyway, I bought this vinyl decal from Leen the Graphics Queen about a month ago. I was scared to put it on because I am a perfectionist and knew I would apply it crooked or something. Last Saturday, I finally did it - and it turned out GREAT! I love it!

Madden is entering the "almost 3" stage. He is a pure joy and cracks us up most of the time, but he is also gaining more independance and seeing how far he can push things....which has added to some increased discipline and some challenging moments. He is at a fun age - but it just has it's moments. He entertains us all the time.
He is obsessed with fire trucks at the moment and anytime we go anywhere in the car, we have to take a short detour and go by the fire station near our house. Recently, he had the opportunity to get ON a fire truck and he freaked out! Right now, he just likes to drive by and wave at them. :)
He is nearly potty trained....100% at school (because I think they take a potty break at school every 20 minutes!)......and 90% at home (because we don't take a potty break every 20 minutes!) Still isn't interested in going #2 in the potty, but he'll get there! I am just pleased at how easy this process has been.
He talks up a storm and has conversations with us now. He can tell us what happened at school each day (which sometimes is true and sometimes not!) He loves to sing - and recently heard the song by Lady Antebellum "I Need You Now" - and can recite the lyrics....so sometimes, he can be heard singing "It's a quarter after 1, I'm a little drunk and I need you now".....nice.
He likes routine....always has, but especially now. Daddy gets him up and fed.....mommy does bedtime stuff.
He enjoys lots of shows! Dora is still his favorite, but he has branched out a little. He enjoys coming home from school and having a snack and watching a show.
So, that is what has been going on in our little world.....
