The Saturday prior, our neighborhood put on a fireworks show. We all met at Honey's house for dinner and then walked over to the lake to watch the fireworks. Last year, Madden was terrified....but this year, he was SO BRAVE! He told me afterward that he really didn't like them, though. But, at least he sat and watched....and didn't cry!
On the actual holiday, July 4, we had a pretty laid back day with just the 3 of us. Madden and I went swimming for 2 hours and he thoroughly enjoyed the huge waterslide. For his birthday he wants a waterslide like this one....and a playground. He must think we live on acreage or something!
Later that night, we went to Target to get a "July 4 toy" (yes, he is spoiled!), to eat BBQ and get fireworks. Crazy enough, this was my first experience EVER to go to a fireworks store! Marc couldn't believe it. We didn't like our own fireworks growing up....too scary! :) Ha! We got Madden a few things to do and then headed home.
THIS rocket launcher was the July 4 toy! Madden loves to go look up and down the aisles at Target and it takes him FOREVER to decide on what he wants. After about 20 minutes, Marc spotted this toy on the top shelf for $11.00 - and Madden agreed to it! Yea! Turns out, it is a HUGE hit! Madden loves it - even more than the $20 we spent on fireworks!
Nature calls - and you sure can't take time to go INSIDE when you are having so much fun outside! Ha!

We bought a few 'low to the ground' fireworks. Madden didn't get too close, but he enjoyed them. He had no interest in sparklers this year - probably because our brave neighbors weren't there to encourage him like last year! :)

We had a brief photo op - and somehow I lucked out with this one! Love it!
Happy July 4th from the Moores!
Here is one more from Madden's parade at school on July 3. Marc went to see him and Madden wouldn't even look at him - ha! They paraded around the parking lot and had watermelon. I think we have 3 of these hats now....from the past 3 years!

FYI Maria's idea of "fireworks" was lighting a match! There was no need to go through going to a fireworks stand until Ben came along.
ReplyDeleteLove the post especially the "nature's call"!!!!!
